Some of you are interested in a tutorial – I heard 😉

Janet has created this wonderful layout with the Delight Page Kit and she opened the door of the letterbox  to look through.

Now you wonder how she made it and I asked her to write a tutorial and she was so kind to offer it. It is written for PSE. Thank you so very much, Janet!
I made a few screens in addition so you can take a look, pictures are taken in another program so you see it is working in different programs too.

Lets start:

1. First select all the door out of the door frame by using the polygonal lasso tool or any tool that you would use to select.

2. Than duplicate the door onto a new layer. Than in the original layer of the door frame and door, select and delete the door out of the frame.

3. Now you should have the outer door frame without the door and the door itself on two separate layers.

4. If you wish to open with the door in, on the door layer, with the door selected, pressing the control key down at the same time as you move the top right arrow of the door down slightly and to the left to look as though it is open and smaller than the frame.

5. Repeat with the bottom right side of the door moving left and up until the door is straight on the right hand side. . Adjust to what you think that door would look like if it was open. If you want to open the door out, do the opposite, press control while you move the top arrow of the door left and up and repeat with the bottom right arrow going left and down on the door so it is bigger than the frame on the right side.

6. Place quite a large shadow behind the door frame to achieve the look of distance. Also behind the door itself. I also added a shadow on top of the door in my case because of the light source but it would be different depending on the light source on your page.

7. Place anything behind the frame you want to see “outside” or “inside” …. 😉

Thanks again to Janet for that creative idea and inspiration.
